The Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress charts the path to a more cybersecure society

The fourth edition of the event will insist on the need to focus on cybersecurity in the industry

Under the theme ‘The path to security’, the fourth edition of the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress (BCC), an international event focused on cybersecurity, will once again focus on the need to increase security levels throughout the industry landscape to prevent or minimize the effects of cyberattacks, which are becoming increasingly common. It will also showcase the latest solutions to protect companies against malware, safeguard data, improve recovery time and strengthen product confidence.

Organized by Fira de Barcelona and the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya (ACC), the main aim of the 2023 edition is to offer the market real applications to the challenges and needs of cybersecurity in the field of industry, as well as to discover new ways of collaboration to build a better digital world at a time when both the Russian invasion of Ukraine, bot attacks on social networks or various cyberattacks at a global scale have stressed the vulnerability of interconnected systems.

To this end, BCC will have an extensive program of conferences, a hacking village, an exhibition area and activities, and a space for startups. The contents of the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress will be structured around the themes Health, Supply Chain and the SBOM (software bill of materials) creation, Energy and Utilities (companies that offer public services such as electricity, water or gas), and Industrial Automation and Control System (IACS).

Speakers including Franky Thrasher, Head of Nuclear Cybersecurity at ENGIE; Allan Friedman, Senior Advisor and Strategist at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Sarb Sembhi, Chief Technology Officer at Virtually Informed; and Josema Cavanillas, Vice President of Health and Life Sciences for Southern and Eastern Europe at Atos, among others, have already confirmed their participation, and the conferences will also include experts from the ACC itself.

BCC will also feature over thirty companies that will display their latest innovations and developments, and that will also organize workshops and activities to showcase new products and services, among which are Telefonica Tech, Cloudflare and Fortinet, to name a few.

International team of experts
An international experts committee has advised the fourth edition of the BCC in the definition of its contents and goal. Among the experts are John Moor, CEO of the IoT Security Foundation; Francisco Diaz Andreu, vice president for Europe, Middle East and Africa of the International Society of Automation (ISA); Frank Courbon, leader of the Supply Chain Security project at the University of Cambridge and CEO and founder of Ethicronics Ltd; and Marina Krotofil, senior advisor for cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection at ISSP, an international association of social science surveys.

Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress will take place together with IOT Solutions World Congress, the largest international event dedicated to industry transformation through disruptive technologies, in Hall 4 of Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue, and with ISE – Integrated Systems Europe, the world’s leading tradeshow for the audiovisual industry, which will spread throughout the entire Gran Via venue.
